With residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (also known as Physiatry), and fellowship training at Dartmouth in Anesthesiology Pain Management, Dr. Brokaw offers a wide assortment of treatments for pain. Focusing on spine disorders, including back pain and neck pain, Dr. Brokaw performs spinal injections, including nerve blocks, epidurals, joint injections, and radiofrequency ablations. His Spine Team treatments also include physical therapy, medication management, and a holistic approach to decreasing pain and improving physical function. Dr. Brokaw endorses a conservative approach to pain management, using a multidisciplinary philosophy to help his patients.

Dr. Brokaw is a member of the Governing Board of Greenspring Surgery Center, where the spinal injections are performed, in addition to outpatient orthopedic surgeries. He directs the Pain Management program at OrthoMaryland and the surgery center. Additionally, he was the President of the Maryland Society of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation through 2014.

Dr. Brokaw has performed research in worker’s compensation, disability, and radiofrequency nerve ablation for back pain. He lectures frequently on various topics, including spinal injections, pain management, disability/impairment, and prevention of chronicity in worker’s compensation.

Dr. Brokaw has been in Physiatry and Pain Management practice with OrthoMaryland since 2004. In 2009 and 2012 and 2013, he was named one of Baltimore’s Top Doctors by Baltimore Magazine.

Dr. Brokaw’s outside interests include fitness training, music, and philosophy. He volunteers with local and regional environmental organizations.
